Reporting on Green Procurement
This supplementary information table supports reporting on green procurement activities in accordance with the Policy on Green Procurement.
Context
The Policy on Green Procurement supports the Government of Canada's effort to promote environmental stewardship. In keeping with the objectives of the policy, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency supports sustainable development by integrating environmental performance considerations into the procurement decision making process through the actions described in the 2019 to 2022 FSDS "Greening Government" goal.
The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency is not bound by the Federal Sustainable Development Act and chose to voluntarily develop a Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy (DSDS). The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency is currently developing its corresponding 2022–2023 DSDS Report, including applicable reporting on green procurement activities. This report is expected to be complete in the fall of 2023.

- Green procurement incorporates environmental considerations into purchasing decisions and is expected to motivate suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of the goods and services they deliver, and their supply chains. Report on integrating sustainable development
During the 2022–2023 reporting cycle, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency had no proposals that required a strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and no public statements were produced.
